Monarch Airlines announces winter operations in Portugal

Monarch Airlines, which had recently announced its new routes to Madeira and Lisbon Airports this IATA summer, has now confirmed that it will keep the operations during the winter season.

Monarch Airlines, founded in 1968, operates from several British airports to over 50 destinations worldwide, transporting over 8 million passengers a year.

Operating in the Algarve (FAO) Airport for several years, where it has been increasing the operations to Birmingham, Gatwick and Luton, is going to start operating to Lisbon and Madeira during this summer season:

Birmingham/Lisbon                 3 weekly frequencies

London Gatwick/Lisbon           3 weekly frequencies

Manchester/Lisbon                  3 weekly frequencies

Manchester/Funchal (Madeira)  2 weekly frequencies

According to the Head of Network at Monarch Airlines, Marjan Schoeke, the growing demand for Portuguese destinations accelerated the company’s strategy for Portugal, which decided to strengthen the routes for Faro and to invest in Lisbon and Madeira, even during winter.
