LISBON IS THE FIRST EUROPEAN CITY TO RECEIVE FLIGHTS FROM THE BRAZILIAN CARRIER AZUL

Lisbon Airport received on June 23rd, this Thursday, the first direct flight to Europe operated by AZUL – the Brazilian Airline coming from Viracopos Airport, São Paulo.

This first flight of the airline founded by David Neelman in 2008 landed in Lisbon early morning, soon after 6.30 am, on Thursday 23d June. Last year, AZUL carried over 22 million passengers to over 100 destinations.

This new connection between the two cities starts with three weekly flights, increasing to five in July. The new route will be operated on a A330.

At arrival, the incoming aircraft was saluted with the traditional water arch, this time using the airline’s colours: Blue (= AZUL). The 280 passengers that arrived in this inaugural were welcomed with a Portuguese custard cake (Pastel de nata) and a city map.
