FARO AIRPORT WELCOMES THE BOEING 787 DREAMLINER FOR THE FIRST TIME

Today (29 May), Faro Airport and TUI Portugal welcome the Boeing 787 Dreamliner for the first time, operated by Thomson Airways, one of the world's biggest charter airlines, part of the TUI Group, and the first airline to take delivery of this innovative aircraft in 2013.

This Charter operation to the Algarve originates from London Gatwick, and will be provided during the next four months by the Boeing 787, with capacity for 324 seats. The Service is available on Sundays and will offer more than 11,000 seats and a total of 36 flights (departures and arrivals).

For Faro Airport, this operation is of great importance for the Algarve, as Thomson has stood out in the last two decades with a track record of more than 4 million passengers carried to and from Faro.

Faro was also the most sought-after destination for Thomson in Summer’16, a period in which it is estimated that the airline will grow by more than 40%. This represents more than 100,000 available seats, considering their overall operation in the Algarve this summer. It should be remembered that during Summer’16, Thomson will serve Faro from 13 of the main airports in the United Kingdom and Ireland, namely: Birmingham, Bristol *new route*, Cardiff, Doncaster, Dublin, Nottingham, East Midlands, Exeter, Glasgow *new route*, London Luton, Manchester, Newcastle and London Stansted.
